The University of Mumbai, sometimes known colloquially as Mumbai University (MU), is a collegiate public state university in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
The University of Mumbai is one of the world's largest universities. In 2013, the university was associated with 711 colleges. Ratan Tata has been nominated to the advisory council of Mumbai University.

Until 1904, the university's sole activities were examinations, college connections, curriculum development, and instructions for colleges producing curricula. From 1904 forward, teaching departments, research fields, and post-graduate courses were founded, as well as numerous new departments. The Bombay University Act of 1953 reorganised the university's roles and powers after India gained independence in 1947. In 1996, the university changed its name from University of Bombay to University of Mumbai.
In 1949, there were 42,272 students enrolled in 80 linked colleges. These figures had risen to 156,190 and 114, respectively, by 1975.

How can students access their certificates

1. Students can register using their Aadhaar Card and mobile numbers at https://www.digilocker.gov.in/dashboard.

2. Write Mumbai University, followed by their last year's roll number/seat number.

3. On the left side of the certificate, write their registration number.

You can attach the degree from the relevant university and inquire whether the degree was awarded by that university. It is also feasible to request another official certificate for a student's degree verification. Universities are obligated to provide this information to RTI applicants.

Over 12 million degree certificates from Mumbai University (MU) are now available in digital format at the national academic archive (NAD). The certificates are for students who graduated from the university during the academic years of 2014 and 2020.
